3G Broadband Suppliers
Curently, in the UK there are five actual 3G mobile service providers:
Vodafone, Three, T-Mobile, Orange and O2.
Each of the five providers have a variety of packages and offers which vary from time to time.
It is often quite difficult to choose between two (or more) of the providers because of the different way they provide information about their services, different included facilities and worst of all, different hidden charges.
The most common hidden charges are for out of contract data transfer, that is where you use more than the allocated or included data allowance in a given month - or roaming charges, that is using your UK based mobile broadband when abroad.
Operators often suggest apparently very cheap deals to provide a "free" 3G service with an existing contract, however as with all "free" or very cheap offers, they often have restrictions or additional charges in the small print, rendering them a relatively poor and expensive option.
There is usually little reason to tie yourself to the same operator for your mobile phone and 3G internet connections, and by shopping around it is possible to get the best of both worlds and the ability to change your mobile telephone and broadband suppliers to suit yourself - rather than being tied to an "all-in" package that does not suit as well.
