3G and Netbook PCs - SSD or hard disk.
Laptop and Desktop PCs generally use "Hard disk" drives for permanent data storage as they have the highest capacity for a given size and cost. Recently, "Solid State Disk" technology has increased in capacity and reduced in cost to make SSD drives a viable alternative to mechanical hard disks, in certain applications.
As SSD drives can be made smaller than traditional hard disks they are an ideal candidate for use in Netbooks. They were originally only made in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities - but recently, 32GB, 64GB and larger solid state drives have appeared on the market, with the cost dropping as each larger capacity model is announced.
Bear in mind that the SSD capacity should be compared to the hard disk capacity of a "normal" laptop or PC, not the memory or amount of RAM installed. A netbook should have at least 512MB of RAM to run Windows XP and preferably 1GB or more. Linux based netbooks are sometimes supplied with as little as 128MB of RAM.
