3G and Netbook PCs - Battery Life
Every laptop user knows how frustrating it is to run out of battery power and find yourself hunting for a mains socket and the getting the laptop power supply plugged in before the batteries fail.
Using a Netbook on a train or in a Cafe, it is often impossible to find a suitable power outlet and a Netbook PC needs to have good battery life to be truely usable on the move and away from a reliable mains supply.
We find that users expect and need far more than the 1.5 - 2 hours battery life common with many Netbook systems and realistically, 4 hour battery life is a reasonable expectation for most users.
Only a few current Netbook models can offer this sort of battery life and this should be given serious consideration when looking to purchase a new Netbook system.
Of the systems on the market at present, certain models in the Asus EEEPC Netbook range have among the best battery life of any Netbook today:
Specifically the EEEPC 901, 1000 and 1000H models will provide between 5 and 6 hours real use on a single charge - even when powering a 3G modem. This far exceeds the majority of the competitors models battery life, regardless of cost.
